The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as “spinal manipulation,” it is also called a “chiropractic adjustment.” The adjustment is usually given by hand and consists of applying pressure to the areas of the spine or joint that are out of alignment or do not move properly within their normal range of motion. Manipulation or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing the tissues to heal.
